On Sunday the WWE continued a recent trend of Lucha Libre signings, as they’ve come to terms with top Luchador, Averno.

Averno joins other Lucha Libre star, Sin Cara aka Místico who started with the company back in April. Averno and Sin Cara have worked together in the past at Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and if the trend continues WWE could see more Mexican wrestlers flying high from the top ropes.

WWE plans to return to Mexico in October to do both a Raw and Smackdown taping for the first time ever. It is quite possible that WWE will bring in more Luchadors.

According to Fight Sports Examiner, the head of WWE’s talent development, Paul Michael Lévesque aka Triple H, is said to be high on international wrestlers. They also stated that he is considering bringing in more top foreign wrestlers to help bulk up WWE’s roster and to gain more fans in other countries.

Averno is a former one-time World Middleweight Champion and a three-time World Tag Team Champion with CMLL. According to PWInsider.com CMLL was shocked when they heard the news of Averno’s signing. There could even be some fallout from his signing including Averno losing his mask, a disgrace in the world of Luchadors.

Like Sin Cara, Averno will be wrestling under the Smackdown brand starting sometime in June. They join WWE with fellow and long time Luchador Rey Mysterio, who currently performs under the Raw brand.
